    electric car pollution

"The global warming potential from electric vehicle production is about twice that of conventional vehicles."
In addition, producing batteries and electric motors requires a lot of toxic minerals such as nickel, copper and aluminium.
Hence, the acidification impact is much greater than that of conventional car production.
"Across the other impacts considered in the analysis including potential for effects related to acid rain, airborne particulate matter, smog, human toxicity, ecosystem toxicity and depletion of fossil fuel and mineral resources, electric vehicles consistently perform worse or on par with modern internal combustion engine vehicles, despite virtually zero direct emissions during operation," according to Prof Stromman.

Its a shame the authorities, insurance companies and the like make it virtually impossible to recycle your old car into something new and improved. There could be a whole new industry dedicated to bringing old cars up to date and good as new.

I would love to have a project LR with 4 x electric hub motors some batteries and a multi fuel turbine generator! No diffs, geatbox, t-case, props, engine etc etc.... The technology is there for you to do yourself if your rich and brave enough but you could never get the car approved as roadworthy!

A government supported scheme with approved kits, guidlines and certification to convert old cars to electric/hybrid would be more responsible than pushing people to buy new eco (read: e-faux )cars.

Blimey! Better ban normal cars too, they contain that "toxic" stuff too!

I capture my methane and run a generator so I can power machines to make solar panels!

There is some mob in California, who take your liquified dinosaur powered vehicle, remove the IC engine add a massive DC motor to the front of the gearbox and use the rest of the newly restored space to fit batteries.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

That would put a smile on drivers' faces when the Prince of Darkness stepped in to release some smoke.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
