Wonder what the co$t is for a replacement (plastic) pedal...
- plus labour.
A couple of years ago I helped a female friend select a new car. The two wheel drive Rav 4 ticked all the boxes and she has enjoyed the 60,000 trouble free kays that she has racked up with the car. This week I drove it a short distance, the first time since it was new. I found it had excessive clutch free travel (3/4 of the way to the floor) and accused her of riding the clutch. It went in for a clutch adjustment today, at an independant workshop. The mechanic was surprised as the Rav has a self adjusting hydralic system. He discovered that the pivot for the actuation rod in the (plastic) pedal is flogged out. He wished her luck convincing the stealer that is not fair wear and tear.

If they won't come to the party, I'll plate and sleeve it with stainless steel.

Interesting,, my niece has bought one of these, I'm not sure, but I think it was a late model second hand unit. She's driven it up to Alice Springs where she's working as a nurse, and soon she's going up to work in Darwin.
Don't know if it's auto or manual, but I will speak with her about it.
Thanks for the heads up.
Ian, I'm surprised that Toyo didn't use stainless steel in the first place!!!Then again, maybe not, obviously a cost cutting exercise!!
Well it's been back to the dealers and, surprise.surprise..........
"They say there's nothing wrong with it, they all do that."
I wonder will they fix the gear box when that breaks due to the clutch not disengaging fully. The battlelines have been set, I'll go and disguss the problem with them.![]()
