D4 - Overlander Car of the Year 2012

Just read in the latest Overlander 4x4 magazine that the D4 was voted car of the year. Wooohooo!!!!
Im sure we all knew that anyway but it was great to see it knocking off the Toyota 200. It came third.
Second place was the new Jeep which was a bit of a surprise I thought after test driving one before getting my D4.
    I wasn't overly impressed.

Is this magazine on the shelves yet?
Had a look in my local newsagents yesterday. There was a mag there dated December 2012. Without opening the plastic cover, it's hard to tell if it is the right mag, as there is nothing about it on the front cover.

    Cheers, Craig

Overlander is just telling us what we already knew

The 200 is not ground breaking in anyway. Toyota drivers don't like too much change....they can't adapt.

I have not bought an overlander magazine for years....is it worth picking then odd one up again ?

Mind you I have read the comment elsewhere previously that the nickname for the Overlander mag is Roverlander. ...

    cheers,

Another award for the Discovery to annoy the Toyota brigade

Overlander 4WD of the Year... ...is the Land Rover Discovery 4, as revealed in the January issue, which arrived in my mailbox today. The results were:

    1. Discovery 4
    2. Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland CRD
    3. Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series GXL
    4. Toyota Prado 150 Kakadu
    5. Toyota FJ Cruiser
    6. Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited
    7. Mitsubishi Pajero VRX
    8. Nissan Pathfinder Ti550

No doubt the Toyota brigade will be spitting out their XXXX, but, as Overlander said:

"See, with class-leading levels of refinement and quality, idiot-proof off-road ability, a thumping and thrifty twin-turbo diesel engine, it really did sweep all before it." p. 57.

Indidentally, it rode on Pirelli Scorpion Zeros in 275/65R19 and the second-placed Jeep was on even larger Kumho Solus KL21s in 265/50 R20.

It makes my day when I read stuff like this.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I went out with overlander magazine last week and they didn't mention anything to me........though that could be why they photographed my car so much and told me it would be on the cover around march next year!

To be beaten by a Land Rover is one thing but I reckon the Cherokee would be a bitter pill to swallow.

    Cheers,
    Anthony.
