    Hey Debruiser
If its any consolation, last week I rode my bike around the neighbourhood with my kids. At the turn of the lower part there was a bloke stringing a length of Christmas lights around a big blue spruce in his front yard.
We nodded a cordial as we pedaled by.

This Sunday I have just done the same thing!--The half a string of the lights are still draped around the branches; the step ladder is still there, and the bloke is still looking a bit vexed with a box of lights on the grass seven days later!
I said to him--"Not much progress eh since last week, still working on it"?

I got a choice set of words I got about Chinese lights, & that they were working last year etc etc.
I retorted well its a universal problem mate , there's a bunch of blokes "Down Under doing the same thing as you!

Merry Christmas from me "up 'n over" here looking at Chinese made blow up Santa s Elves and Reindeer--plus the sleighs in abundance on front yards. Plus the lights--can't for get the lights!

we will put some up later today, nothing special though just enough to say yes we acknowledge xmas.
The street we live in is a very family orientated street and everyone puts lights up, and yes we have fancy neighbours too

the city i live in in sweden does animated light display on an iconic building in the city centre, it is quite good but most of it is not related to xmas and some of it i think is just weird and they could do a better. I may get a link but if anyone wants to check it out type lights display in helsingorg and you will find it

I bent the silly pins in a plug putting mine together, snapped off two pins, and didn't have a spare to fix it, so in the bin it went.
The other plugs like phone plugs are much more robust.

I put mine up,but they must be labor party lights as most don't work and they all hang around together and the ones that do work aren't very bright.
    ha ha!
