I'd go for a bit of trimming,

    • hide/archive old sections, the calendar vote is one that has had me bemused for a while.
    • Try and regain some of the screen realestate, I realise the ads are important but maybe rearrange then to only occupy 1 line instead of 2 as they are now.
    • Condense the 'club' sections maybe to a separate page/forum many of us probably can't even access most of them.
    • A button where you could mark whole sections as read, ie one click to mark all marketplace forums read.
    • I'm sure there used to be a facility to hide forums from 'new posts' would like to see that back.
    • reduce the number of 'stickys'.

    Hey Martyn

with the club sections I have them all collapse there is a little arrow in the top right hand corner to do this as it bugs me to, to have to scroll down them all if I wanted to get to say Sydney clubs

    also

if you go in to a section lets just say General chat for instance if you go to the top right of the threads liting you will see a tab called forum tools if you click on that in the list you can click on "mark this forum read" that will Mark everything in that forum as read... you can also do this on the main forum page to mark ALL forum as read...

I dont know whether you knew that the things above were available or not but I thought i would mention it in case you didnt, I thought it might perhaps help

The forum is pretty good I think.

The list of forum areas is very long to scoll through (although it doesn't particularly worry me). What if it initially only showed the section heading ('Aulro General' or whatever) and when you clicked on it, it then showed the sections under each heading.

    Everything here is really cool.

But I do still miss the scraps in the old soapbox!

Perhaps an alternative location where politically minded folk can go to beat up on each others opinions and the activities of our elected rep's. A spot where the gloves are allowed to come off every now and then and the sensitive wall flowers can just stay out of.

I honestly think it's important we (all Australians) continually engage with the political scene and keep an eye on what's happening with our taxes. But I think it's also healthy to have somewhere to vent or behave a bit one eyed with out repercussion...

You know... a nasty little, immature, young adults, cess pool to balance out all the lovely, delightful, old civilized stuff!!!

I tend to agree with you, but I bet Inc won't!
Perhaps we need a Not-aulro.com cesspit, that Dave wont get sued over.
Perhaps a twitter hash tag????? #aulrosoapbox

I do not agree 200% about a space where the gloves come off we have tried this so many times and the people that use it can NOT use it amicably it really does bring out the sourness in people and AULRO does not need a place where people think they have a right to get dam right nasty

I agree, there's been so much mud thrown in politics lately, most of it just rubbish, that its obvious maybe half the population prefers fear-mongering slander to facts. Lets keep that out of AULRO.

Perhaps there are, like, other places on the 'net where politics could be 'discussed'? I'm sure they must be out there ...
