From a personal point of view, thanks to all the moderators and others that make this a great site, I certainly enjoy pretty much everything I read on here !!.

Getting rid of the soapbox and limiting political and religious based ranting is a great thing for the forum. There are plenty of other places for that.

You are entitled to your opinion but often these "discussion" threads seem to become shouting matches between a few and no ones opinion is ever changed only their position argued until it because a slagging match, no need for that on AULRO, I come here to talk about LR stuff !!

My only suggestion is there use to be a simpler way to navigate between the different sections, I think it was called channels or something similar. Can you bring that back or suggest an easier alternative ?

Also I spend a lot of time in the D3/D4/RRS sports pages where there seems to be lot of new members. It would be good to somehow educated new members on the etiquette of why and how to use the search function because the number of times "Best off road tyres for 19in/18in rim" has been posted is crazy. I am sure that is true for many other parts of the forum.

Other than that, it is great.

    Thanks.

    George

Don't see that problem, pages load quite quickly compared with some sites.

Yep. But, having said that - I don't use it much unless I am on a really slow work connection somewhere past the black stump where smoke signals can be quicker.

You may not pick up on the page load issues that new site visitors get or those who do not frequent because of your browsers cache.

Also it is not always slow, sometimes all the 'extras' respond quickly, but with the way your html/js is set up - if any one of those external sites is having a slow day - it halts your page display.

Very often I get the AULRO header and nothing else whilst waiting for some external site request to load. Once it is delivered the rest of the page becomes visible. I'm sure many have had this happen at least once if they frequent this site.

My suggestion would allow the core page content to render first and any delays fetching external content after that is no bother. No question, it would be an improvement. Few people are interested in this kind of optimization... I'd rather not be, but its my job!

I have this happen too. Not a lot, but it happens. Sometimes I have to reload the page as it hangs while waiting for some external site.

wait till i get my bunny ears...

only time i ever see headers only is on machines with incorrectly setup internet security software in place

i have tried a lot of what you have mentioned at times

defer when i have tried it stops most of the ads and a quite few other addon scripts working

async helps a little with some of the scripts.

everything that can be cached including the css files is

php is cached so are mysql lookups and just about anything else i have been able to tweak.

    guests only see cached content

optimisation specialist i ain't and i am more than happy to send you a couple of the templates so you can have a play

the priority isnt just outright speed, it is reliability, compatibility and paying the bills so content loading with out the adverts aint a priority ...

You can argue politics or sling mud until you are blue in the face if that is what you want to do. There are plenty of places where you can be as obnoxious as you like.

You just can't do it here.

You have been told why, but you seem to be so focussed on what you want to do that you seem to have difficulty appreciating the problems other people had to deal with when the sort of "debate" you want was permitted.
    Dear unrequested impudent locum.

There was an opportunity to make a suggestion and I did. I enjoy the political stuff. Inc responded no ( again ;-) ) and that's that.

But seeing as you wanna have a personal go at me...

Funny nobody bothered to mention the problems I personally caused previously and how I am now the obnoxious one and obviously the root of all evil in your mind.

I bet it's ok for me to have an interest in politics if I praise the PM or the government but sure as **** if I want to have a go at them I am a problem...

Some of you guys are so blindly hypocritical and still can't help playing the man when you are faced with stuff you don't agree with, or people who think differently to you that wont be bullied into submission.

    Rack off bully boy.

I love the site and it’s great.

Only place I don’t get is the good oil

it just is not very logical and to try and find something is harder than using the search.

Also i tyre with the tire questions in the forum. however for me personally the search is not to helpful. Hopefully the wiki section might help a bit.

As a bit of fluff it would be great for each of the pinnacles to have a bit of a history section attached to the heading with details about model variants and stuff like that.

I have questioned in the past why there is a lot of locked treads on here that even gold subscribers cant view.(club threads)

It clutters up the main screen with stuff nobody can really see. I would suggest just having one link to club pages so the main page is not cluttered.

I know you can hide it by clicking on the tab but why should we have to?

Oh and lastly another good idea would be to have like Facebook a way of inviting people to events and having a notification of this?

Anyway carry on with the great work inc
