    Best Song Ever

A short time ago we had a thread "Best Australian Band". My local radio station is running a voting system until years end, to find the best 1,000 songs, which they are then going to play.

This prompted me to this post. What, in your opinion, do you think is the best song ever. (internationally) And we will add a second category, best song by Australian artist.

I will start it off with,

International. Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin.

Australian. The Holy Grail. Hunters and collectors.

This was not easy, as I probably could name ten songs in both categories that I like equally.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

International: Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits
Australian: Blue Sky Mine - Midnight Oil

I could pick so many songs for either category, but those two came out on top for me

This is of course very relevant to each persons "era" of music, the years when music had the strongest impression on a person.
    So for mine...

International: there are so many but I loved some of the protest songs..Eve of Destruction
Local: One that I find very emotional particularly when Judith Durham comes in is We Are Australian

    For international (joint winners):

    • Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
    • Coldplay - Fix You

    For Australian:

    • Kylie Minogue - Spinning around. The video for which is improved quite a bit with a touch of the mute button
