Hilborn offer a gasoline EFI street system but at over US$5,000. Bob Bendsten, www.transmissionadapters.com, modifies Cadillac North Star systems to fit the Hemi but I have no idea of price.

The Holley, or a big Quadrajet pass enough air and fuel to adequately feed these big mothers and nothing to go wrong.

I had a Mopar Performance drag race spec Hemi 426 in my Challenger. While Chrysler may call them a "Street Hemi", they are really a thinly disguised race engine. Not happy at low revs in traffic and very lumpy under 1,500. Mine was putting out over 600 horses and would happily run up to 6,500rpm. Sound at 6,000 under load was really something.

Yea I gotta agree, there is nothing.....NOTHING!!!... like the sound of a Hemi past 6000 RPM and that includes the 6 Cyl.... I had a 278 cube 6 way back in the ealy 80's, just on 400 HP and the sound that made at 6000 was bloody scary......hooked me on MOPAR for ever. I am drooling right now at that pic

Peter tells me it is a 426 in a mild street tune version and dynoed at 560 hp.

Great engine! Would last as long as any other American V-8 if not flogged to the extreme. My cousin had one in a '68 Charger. Wonderful to drive! Just push on the LOUD pedal.
