    Hyrdraulic puller rental - Adelaide

Giving the steering box new seals, or that's the plan. On my 12 page print out I am still at step one with remove drop arm.
Man, this thing is tough - I had heard it, but now I've seen it!

    So...
Anyone know of where I can rent a hydraulic puller, 2 arm, to get this thing off, before I head to paramount browns and purchase one?

Kennards and coates don't list them on the website, but I think I should give them a call I guess.

Sorry if wrong area, but couldn't see a good place to put it.

Try ringing a repair shop to pull your drop arm, then not doing it up to full torque. Re-car springs to mind, on your side of town:

So, I used some retaining wall steel to make a new 2 part deck for my 20 ton press. Thought I could use this to remove the arm (the box is already off the car).

Well, the U section bent nicely. Casualty list for the job grows:
    * 3 Leg puller, big, friends. Ovaled the threaded section, so jammed
    * 2 Leg stanley pitman from supercheap, snapped (but returned )
    * 2 Leg stanley gear, ripped the holes open, but the rest is still good
    * new custom deck - bent.

I've also heated it while on the puller, used the air hammer (first thing I have seen the air hammer NOT move), including while on the puller.

Swearing is confirmed to also be ineffective.

I guess it is time to go buy from paramount browns tommorrow, I wonder what their return policy is

Not sure about Paramount Browns tool quality, they're into dumped imports. Have you tried Bursons Auto Parts at Holden Hill? They're open Saturday mornings.

The hydro puller was pretty much the same as the one in Gasweld, (we did a tool browsing morning ).

The arm has been defeated, the puller was pretty much maxed out at 10ton and couldn't have been pushed much more.

A couple big hits on the arm with BFH and it finally came off and dropped on the floor.

So I have a puller for rent from in the North from now on...

I have dismantled a lot of the box now, next problem has arisen, the needle roller bearings on the lower half are looking sad and started to drop out, so looks like a few new parts to get sent across.

Also got to make two special tools, one to undo the lock nut with the dimples, and one to undo the reverse nut it locks.

When finished I'll put a picture guide up on here or LR4x4.com for future reference.
