    Brisbane Land Rover dealers?

We're going car shopping today, and I just looked up Brisbane LR dealers on the net - surely Austral aren't the only dealer in Brisbane? Please tell me there's an alternative?

    Cheers

Well we ended up taking a D4 for a test drive from Austral. The sales woman we dealt with actually wasn't too bad, not pushy at all, and fairly knowledgeable.

Basically we're after a seven seater, so we also drove a Volvo XC90, Prado, and Pathfinder. The D4 is a class above all of them - it's finished better, rides better, and of course looks better!

The Prado surprisingly had the most agricultural ride of the lot I thought. The XC90 was OK, but not as smooth as the D4, and very noisy. The Pathy was actually not too bad ride wise, but the salesman was useless.

Of course I would love the D4, but it look's like it's anywhere from 10 to 20 grand more than the others. Not sure we can justify the cost.

Does Sneigy work for a dealer? Will he make me an offer I can't refuse?

    Cheers

What did you get quoted for D4?
We are looking for a new or near new 4wd wagon and have seen the same thing.
The D4 2.7 starts around $70k on the LR website.
You get a lot for your money but we are more in Pajero GLX territory at the moment if talking new.

Interesting what you said about Pathfinder. I found them far too faithful to the Navara to be a decent family wagon. Full of hard plastics and not very ergonomic.
They are being replaced next year with a soft roader I believe so prices might be good at the moment.

Of the vehicles you listed I believe the Prado is the only one with a solid rear axle.
I have one for work which I think is alright but don't really have anything to compare it too.

Austral reckon the 2.7 isn't available any more. They quoted me around $86k for the new 3.0 TDV6 (a step below the 3.0 SDV6) with a few extras (seven seats, leather seats, reversing camera, rear aircon). This was without any haggling, so I'm guessing they would come a fair bit lower than that. They also have a lot of 2012 cars on sale, like HSE's reduced from $103k to $93k.

We test drove the base model Pathy (ST?), it was all they had. I didn't pay too much attention to the finish, as we would go at least 2 models above (the TI probably), which would be much nicer inside. I asked them about the new model, they claimed they had no knowledge of it ...

How did you find the Pajero?

We found the Prado fairly noisy (although not as noisy as the XC90 when you put your foot down). And of all of them, it drove the most like a 4WD and least like a car. Whatever we get will be used as our daily driver, mainly by the missus, road handling is pretty important for us. I'll be keeping our Defender for any off road fun!

If we can find a D4 (or order one) with the extras we want somewhere closer to 70K, then I'm pretty sure we'll go with that. It's so much better than the others!

    Cheers
    Sean
