Any South Aussies been to Gaucho's on Gouger st?
Had an all expenses paid management dinner there for work; the boss of course had to have a $120 800g T-bone. Biggest T-bone I've ever seen!
Median price for a steak there is ~$70

Best steak I ever tasted was in the Territory, we shot a buffalo, butchered it, and a little bit later, cooked some of it. Cost us the price of a 303 round. Marinated the ribs, BBQ'd them over an open fire, washed down with a VB can. Probably not as comfortable or sociable as your setting, of course. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
I'm a big spender. $20.
About $160 for a steak which was not much bigger than the size of my palm in an 'Australian' restaurant in Nanjing in China.. but after 4 months with no 'real' meat it was worth every cent.. even though it came with nothing else.. no salad or vegies etc as apparently that's how we eat in Australia..![]()
Night before last it was a $32.00 Eye Fillet at the local pub - it was "30 day grain finished" & not to my taste. Made up for it last night with a $33 scotch fillet on the company tab, & thats around top $$$ for me.
I can't understand all the hoo ha about grain fed beef. The yanks have had it for 60 years or so, simply because it can feed the masses.
About $40 AFAIK. Although that includes chips etc. Any more than that and I'd probably walk out.
Never been a fancy restaurant guy when it comes to steak.
there is a place in the northern suburbs here in Perth, (The Rockpool) that charges $119 for a steak. A colleague took a prospective girlfriend there one night and was left rueing that decision the next morning.
cheers
Nick
