    The news article says he tried to recover his jet ski on to the trailer, and the sand gave way. The beach was unstable, If the others had attempted rescue, good chance they would have ended up with him. Bob

    I agree.

    However I often wonder how this kind of thing happens on beaches in populated areas. I've never been near a beach like this one where there hasn't been *something* heavy plant with a set of caterpillar tracks nearby that wouldn't be able to pull a vehicle out at the end of a length of chain....

    If you had the choice, what would you risk losing, a brand new 4WD, or a jet ski? The young man obviously believed the ' bulletproof ' ads, they have something to answer for, I think. The local VMR would have provided the rescue needed. Bob
