Give it some time. The task the police are trying to undertake is huge. Accounting for every single person in an area that large will take time sorry.

    Help where needed

I feel a bit frustrated at the moment, being unable to go far from my home.

I do live in a district that is a known bush fire prone area and for me to leave home to go and help someone with their clean up must wait to when conditions have improved.

Until there has been some rain to take the danger out of leaving my and my elderly neighbours properties unattended, I must stay put.

There is no practical way of stopping a wall of flame unless the ground has been given a black edge first, but to be available to put out a spot fire that has been started from falling embers, before the wind picks up and carries the flame is most important.

The fire that concerns the community around here the most, is the Lake Repluse fire, as it is up on high ground and in timbered country, with the wind behind it, this fire has already spotted, lighting up over distances of 10 kilometres away from the main fire.
Those spot fires have been controlled and now are safe at the moment, the perimeter of largest fire that spotted at Meadowbank is being watched around the clock.

Stay safe people and do what you can.

All the best, mate & remember, think with the head, not the heart. We're all thinking of you up here. My friends in Bicheno phoned last night & they're OK .

Keep safe Arthur, you are doing the right thing in looking after your elderly neighbours.

Send me a PM if you need something.

    Donations

Yesterday I had an unexpected phone call from a Queensland AULRO member about the fire conditions here in Tasmania.

He inquired about my situation first, to which I replied that We are experiencing lots of smoke but safe for now as the main body of the fire is still well away, I explained about the chance of spot fires though.

He then surprised and humbled me saying that he had just given online a donation to the Redcross Tasmanian Bush Fire Relief Appeal.

What can I say on behalf of those people effected?

A very big thanks to you mate.

To people in NSW, take care in those conditions that are being forecast for today.

Unfortunately the Riverina region in NSW has been hit hard, in particular the Wagga/Tarcutta areas. I've got some really close mates that have been fighting them for 48 hours - stay safe fellas.

We are still struggling down here with numerous fires across the whole state now. Crews have arrived from VIC & NSW, with more crews coming from SA, WA and New Zealand. The VIC police are also arriving tomorrow to help with searching.

    Cheers

My brother lives in Dunalley...he got evacuated and his work went up but his house survived.
I lived around there for years, know lots of people down there, very sad to see.
My lovely little former hometown will never be the same...

I don't envy them their jobs, after looking at some of the news footage etc. there appears that in some instances the fires reached cremation temperatures

We have here at the moment fires in the pine plantations on Bribie Is,and one at Toorbul about 8 klms up the passage, our place 6klms south is blanketted in light smoke,we have about a 15kt Northly blowing.
