Thread: 4X4 Driving and inclines.

Recently drove up a track that was steep enough that the water ran out of the wiper washer nozzles and ran across the windscreen. Was only for the first twenty meters or so and then it eased of a bit. At the start of the hill you had to lean forward in the seat and look up to see where track went. I`m guessing it was a bit more than 18 degrees.

If you came up here Muppet ill show you a track down on the river at East Kunderang which snakes its way straight up out of the gorge which has tyre tracks.

I did not attempt it as on each side there is a dropoff & every 5 metres up the super steep part are humps which would be 60 so very bloody dangerous but something got up it.

On the Carrai side there is a phone line trail that would be somewhere in the high 30's & is able to be traversed.

Ill be down there again in the next few weeks if the river is playing nice & i will get a proper reading of both.

If you intend driving upstream from Georges Junction just be very careful of the second crossing - the gravel on the western bank is very soft and unstable.
I was there early last month and we got through but not without a little difficulty.
I'm pretty sure they've had a bit of rain since then which may not have done the crossing any favours.

Yeah bloody oath, there are some magic spots up around here. Its like another world down there on the river.

Get into Werrikimbe National Park too on the other side. Same country but a lot more space to wander/drive around in, not as much as
before the parks took the lease back & locked heaps of gates, but enough.

Yes that crossing has been completely changed after the huge flood. Seen a couple of patrols have to winch out last time I was down.......but their technique could have been a bit better & a CDL is magic on that stuff.

Right now im nearly 110% sure its too dangerous as the rain has been pretty constant.

How far up did you go Xtreme? If you got to the second last river crossing where on the left of the exit point there is a massive built up grey sand dunes with pine trees at the back of the dune , the steep track is off to the right across that open paddock & up the ridge from there.
