Sad news Mike, hear your pain.
My German Shep at 9 was bounding around fitter than ever, got up one morning 4 weeks ago and she was not well, died before 10 that day, lying in her favorite spot before vet appointment, just lay down and went to sleep poor thing. Heart failure took her within couple hours of first signs… Looks like our 5yo Daughter caught the last pic while playing with a camera the previous night.
Thanks for sharing Tombie. Great looking dog; at least it sounds like a fairly quick departure. My border collie is about the same age and starting to slow down.:(
Dogs great friends, they dont judge you, just unconditional love.
Like mentioned, get another.
Sorry to hear that mate, we have always had dogs and the saddest moment I had was to gather our 14 year old poodle up off the road after he was killed by a car and bury him in the backyard, the whole family was crying as I buried him. that was almost twenty years ago. You never forget a good doggy friend do you!!:(
We have had a couple of lovely pooches since and this is one of our two current dogs, Bindi, she is a cattle dog cross and don't you just love those big eyes!!:D she has just turned seven years old.:D

We miss him but enjoy talking about the funny things he would do. He would put on a big tough boy show to any strangers that came by the house... and he was scary. Sorry to hear that Mate My thoughts are with you. In all the years Ive had them they are all part of the family. Even though mine are working dogs the loss when they go is something that you can never forget . Each has their own personality and can never be replaced .

Im sorry :( They are such an integral part of some of our lives. 9 seems young but they are a big dog, and its been so hot
Somehow initially no dog seems good enough to replace the one you lost until you come to the realization that its not about 'replacement' but enrichment they are all different little personalities. And if you happen to rehome a dog from the RSPCA or other rescue you are doubling the benefit.
I hope you and your family always remember the loved one you lost, and are able to give love again to another that is waiting especially to give its love to you

Cherish the Love and Companionship and then share some more with another from Death-row.
Our little girl disappeared a year and a half ago, during a period when a number of other little dogs were turning up torn to pieces, apparantly bait dogs for the dog-fighters :(
Fortunately she turned up safe and sound thanks to some other Dog lovers who kept her safe. :)
BUT, for those ferw days, I was sure she was gone in a terrible way.
So I have been were you are now, but thankfully given a reprieve.
Off to take my mate for the walk I promised her 3 days ago.
