There is a station I'm friends with the owner. Has a great long dirt road.
May go and do some faster runs and check economy at higher speeds...![]()

Does your indicated economy line up with 'pump' figures? Mine does not and nobody I directly know who owns a D4 has accurate indicated economy either.
They seem to read about 10% on the optimistic side. ie indicate ~ 1l/100km better than what you really get.
2024 RRS on the road
2011 D4 3.0 in the drive way
1999 D2 V8, in heaven
1984 RRC, in hell
It's amazing how nice it makes you feel reading the figure. I prefer not to do the actual calculations. It's the same with the speedo...I was doing 220kph in a Touareg on the Autobahn but its listed top speed is 205 or something like it.

Well I was crapping myselfThing is, the speedo is showing more and the fuel economy is showing less, all designed to give you a warm fuzzy feeling about the car.
D4 rolled through 30,000km on the work run this week.
These have been a lot of tracks and offroad and apart from a niggle with a dash rattle (just can't get time to take to MLR at the moment) it's been otherwise flawless.
Excuse the blurring - was a bit focused...
The exact moment it hit 30,000km

And the economy for such... Its a bit blurry, sorry, was kinda focused elsewhere... It says 13.4l/100km
Attachment 57321
No complaints there!

Tombie,is that dash rattle like a sort of buzz that changes as the road surface changes?
If it is,mine has it as well, haven't had a chance to get it to the dealer yet,but it is an annoying PITA.
As for the fuel economy, that is way better than mine.................
And it needs a CCF change as it is way out of wack,at least 10% optimistic.
Mine is a "tap" kind of knock...
That fuel economy is actually so damn close - on fill ups I'm getting within 1/2 litre.
I thought 13.4l/100km was pretty good pushing a 2700kg brick at that pace
Thats about what my TD5 (admittedly modified a lot) gets at 110km/h...
What I did love, was the lowering and the tightness, poise and control the vehicle feeds back at that pace... Doesn't feel like you are doing anything near that figure.
