Reminds me of the Japanese soldiers that were left stranded on various islands in the Pacific, still thinking the war was on for years after Japan had surrendered.

The last soldier was reunited with his family sometime in the 1970's if my memory serves me correctly.

Quite amazing, I'm not sure that the family's untimely death was a tragedy or a blessing in disguise. It would have been a very hard existance.

I once heard something about a Tasmanian group of people that was found in - I think - the '40s or so, still speaking ye olde English.

(No, it wasn't in downtown Hobart.)
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

Great article, I had heard of this story while in Russia from my wife and of similar stories of people isolated (tended to be more eskimo types from the north) who sadly died when exposed to new diseases .
    Thanks for posting

A good read I must say. The constant harshness of their lives would be more than most of us could bare, for just a week, let alone a lifetime.

    Thanks for posting it dude.

Thanks Inc - an amazing story.

I couldn't help but agree with the first comment [at the bottom of the linked page] though...
