    Goodbye January 2013

    Hello All,

Well tonight marks the end of January 2013 and I must admit it is a case of good riddance.

It has not been a good month for many of us - fires, floods and whatever else our beloved country can throw at us.

I was stuffed around about a prospective job which would have meant relocating interstate. I have been trying to resolve a number of issues with those entrusted with my educational future. Something which started last year I had to bring to a head today and cross fingers it has been resolved. Well that does remain to be seen cross fingers.

One of my best mates who moved from one side of the USA to Hawaii for the offer of his dream job was informed a couple of days ago that his services were no longer required.

I for one and many of my fellow residents who were less fortunate than me within the Bundaberg Region and beyond us down the coast will not be sad to see January 2013 disappear off the calendar. Jeeze I really hope that February turns out to be a much better month for everyone.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

Thanks Ausfree & Cobber - believe it or not - I normally describe myself as an optimist - yep funny hey! This month I started to look out for when the next kick in the nether regions would be coming from - only to miss seeing it before it landed. My positive thinking coach from my younger days would certainly frown upon my reactions to January 2013. I am going to delight in waking up tomorrow and tearing off and scrunching up this month, before it heads to the recycling bin.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

    Lionel,

    Hello from Brisbane.

I am genuinely sorry that this January just gone has not been a great a time for you - and a few other unfortunates with the last week of bad luck on the flooding.

For myself, January was actually pretty good with a great time together with my family etc and some new challenges coming up involving travel, getting my truck back on the road etc.

However, these things go in cycles and I have also had a few black dog moments at various times in my life - most of us do. So, I hope yours turns around soon too.

In the meantime you might need to start whistling the classic Python tune "always look on the bright side".....

    Cheers,

Lional, I feel for you and any loss that you or yours may have suffered. Easing that loss is why I do what I do.
    *warning, D &M moment ahead*
A few years ago, I was introduced to the story of the Taoist Farmer. It Has helped me many times to put life in perspective.

" This farmer had only one horse, and one day the horse ran away. The neighbors came to condole over his terrible loss. The farmer said, "What makes you think it is so terrible?"
A month later, the horse came home--this time bringing with her two beautiful wild horses. The neighbors became excited at the farmer's good fortune. Such lovely strong horses! The farmer said, "What makes you think this is good fortune?"
The farmer's son was thrown from one of the wild horses and broke his leg. All the neighbors were very distressed. Such bad luck! The farmer said, "What makes you think it is bad?"
A War came, and every able-bodied man was conscripted and sent into battle. Only the farmer's son, because he had a broken leg, remained. The neighbors congratulated the farmer. "What makes you think this is good?" said the farmer."

The rich, lively land that most Australians live on, is there because of floods. Enjoy the best, be ready for the worst.
    Take care.
    B Dave.
    Cheers, BDave.
