It's for your phone mate, when someone rings your mobile whil your driving the radio automatically cuts in as the phones speaker so you can talk hands free. There is a little speaker built into the top of the steering wheel. I'm buggered if I can get it working in my puma but I'm not very technically minded like many others.

you seriously don't know what Bluetooth is?

its a form of wireless communication often used to connect phones to cars so you can talk hands free through the radio.

or people use it phone to phone to share photos etc....

Not just phones, its a wireless protocl for pairing devices like phones to handsfree units but commonly used for PC peripheral's like GPS's, keyboards, headsets, gaming controllers or just for data transfer like wifi .

In laymans terms, in a car situation, it means that any device you bring into the car that talks through a speaker, can talk through your car stereo instead, wirelessly, so you don't have to mess with connecting up cables, etc. Examples include your phone - when it's all paired up, if your phone rings, the radio will automatically turn down, and you can talk on your phone as you would with a hands free kit, your GPS - it can make announcements out through the car speakers - much easier to hear than the tinny little speaker at the back, your iPod can play music through your stereo, etc.

Whether you need it or not is up to you. It can be finniky to set up at first, but once the devices have been paired once, they will automatically sync up after that. Or at least they *should* - in my experience it doesn't always work so easy.

My Disco didn't come with one so I didn't know.
Wont be getting one either, I dont own a mobile phone now, ( I only ever had one for emergencies when my Wife was alive ) nor will I again.

I set up my EEE pc as a gps, works fine, dont need one of those bluetooth thingy's, nor am I interested in hooking up or using any sort of wireless communication gadjets.
Always believed in being self sufficient... still here !!!

I dont own a wireless here at home and those things in my vehicles over the years have never been turned on. I dont need those sorts of things to avoid boredom or loneliness. In the desert, if you are quiet, you can hear a lizard wandering around. Know what I prefer !!!

Hey Olbod I noted that you have just seen these ads for the cars with bluetooth I was wondering have you only just got a tv too ?..

its so nice to come across people that can live their lives without the aid of technology (well with the exception of the internet of course) personally I couldn't do it I would lose touch with so many people if I didn't have technology in my life
