Thread: Vic Number plates...what's after ZZZ-999?

    They say 27,000,000 combinations, but I haven't worked it out myself. They claim this should last the next 50 years.

    I was looking forward to a 7 digit plate, so more personalised options would be available...

    Edit - maybe I misheard, I make it just over 37,000,000 but I was never great at this sort of thing...

    since the letter and number positions are fixed, it should be 10x26x26x10x26x26 which gives 45,679,600. However that assumes there is an 0AA0AA option. If they are only using 1-9 then it becomes 9x26x26x9x26x26 which is 37,015,056 (which is I presume what you came up with?)

    EDIT - if they also choose not to use O and I, then it becomes 9x24x24x9x24x24 which is just under 27 million.

    Yeah, I came up with 37,015,056.. Didn't think about dropping O & I, which is why they may have said 27,000,000.

    According to the news yesterday the new plate will be 1AA 1AA and should last us until 2060 ish
