They are always bad at the Outlaws place - I'll give that a whirl next time I'm down there.
Thanks - Gav.
A Canadian friend posted this and they get mossies really bad. I remember not being able to see out of the fly screen they were so bad. Anyway I can't try it as there are none around at the moment so feel free to give it a try if you live up North.
HOMEMADE MOSQUITO TRAP:
Items needed:
1 cup of water
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1 gram of yeast
1 2-liter bottle
HOW:
1. Cut the plastic bottle in half.
2. Mix brown sugar with hot water. Let cool. When cold, pour in the bottom half of the bottle.
3. Add the yeast. No need to mix. It creates carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes.
4. Place the funnel part, upside down, into the other half of the bottle, taping them together if desired.
5. Wrap the bottle with something black, leaving the top uncovered, and place it outside in an area away from your normal gathering area. (Mosquitoes are also drawn to the color black.)
Change the solution every 2 weeks for continuous control.

I've been getting destroyed lately. And I must be allergic to them now, because lately I come up in huge welts where they have bitten me. Must be good blood ey. Will give this a crack though.
I'd say less of a problem, and more of a plague. I'm down to my last 500ml of blood right now.![]()
Have used this before and it works! Just make sure it's a fair distance from where you gather/smoke/whatever, the mozzies will find it but if you keep it close to the house it does stink you out after a couple of days![]()
I will certainly give this a try. They can be pretty bad around here in summer.
Don't worry me though. When they bite me they die from alcohol poisoning.
On a serious not, the ****** gave me Ross River back in 05

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Will it work on those tiny litte suckers that like to **** on you?
We dont have to much of a mozzie problem but the midgies get bad up here
This will work if it produces CO2 as the Army malaria research unit used dry ice in similar traps to attract the little bxxxx in PNG.
Still got malaria twice....
Mandurah is the renowned home of the mozzie in WA,will give this one a go!
Now the next plague is the Portuguese Millipede, following rain, there are literally thousands of the buggers,up the walls, ceilings etc.Coopex or Ficam work well, but is there a non chemical deterrent?
