I very much doubt it
Wifey, her sister, B.I.Law & myself have 2 campers teed up for a week on the South Island. I've got hand held UHF's which I was going to take for ease of communications. Will I need a licence in N.Z for them. They're only low-range wattage with a range around 4-6 Km for use on our property.

Not as far as I know...
...but even if you did, for such low power, remote location and for such a short period of time, I still wouldn't bother!

Should not be a problem NZ rules are the same as australian ones

Recently spent 2 weeks on south island in a campervan. Took a handheld 80 channel UHF. Had it on most of the time, NIL traffic, even when scanning.
So basically you will probably have the airwaves to yourselves.

Thanks for the info fellas. I didn't really want to be stopping & getting out all the time to sort out directions especially when it will be "Brass Monkey" stuff & I'm not good in the cold![]()
You UHF's can be the same gender in N.Z. now. They made it legal to do that type of thing now
