I've seen a few big ferrals but I have had two instances that stand out.
One was on a night drive to York (East of Perth). We were chatting away when something coloured dirty white and as big as a Labrador ran across the road and bounded to the top af a strainer post on the side of the road. The post would have been about 1.8 meters tall and the "cat" had no probs jumping to the top. It stopped to look at us and we it in the spotlight. It was quite shaggy too. Of course as I opened the door to attempt to grab a rifle it took off.
Another time (and quite near where Andy_D110 probably worked) a mate and I were "stalked" for about 1km by something weighty enough to snap some pretty damn thick twigs. This was at dusk and due to my mate cr@ppin himself we beat a hasty retreat to the vehicle which was on the top of a hill. From the top we could hear something growling (catlike) from some dense scrub and we could see green eyes reflected in the spotlight but no one was game to get in any closer. We did not camp out that night!
