    In 2004 I took 15 year 10 girls on a 5 day hike around lake Tarli-Karng.

At camp number 3 just up from Licola there was a set of clawmarks in a tree at my shoulder height. The rear paw prints were clearly visible in the dust and there were no claw mark.

I've got no doubt it was a large cat; it made for a nervous night!

Seen the Same thing in the Pine Forests north of Perth.

A mate of mine had a property that bordered State Forest and National Parks, he always used to mention the same claw markings on trees around there property. Also a strange screaming noise at night from off in the Forest.

Now old mate is a Luddite and doesn't like computers so For ****s and giggles I played him some audio off YouTube of a Black Panther call and also a Cougar. He looked as if he had seen a ghost and all the colour drained from his face!

    It's possible

Just a thought to keep the conspiracy vibe alive

Distraction took me to the description below of vulpe vulpes....My theory is that a genetic minority of the fox can be black, and including the tail be easily 1.5m long. This could look like what's been described

    Physical Description:

Coloration of red foxes ranges from pale yellowish red to deep reddish brown on the upper parts and white, ashy or slaty on the underside... Two color variants commonly occur. Cross foxes have reddish brown fur with a black stripe down the back and another across the shoulders. Silver foxes range from strong silver to ***nearly black*** and are the most prized by furriers. These variants are about ***25% and 10% of red fox*** individuals, respectively.

Red foxes are the largest of the Vulpes species. Head and body length ranges from ****455 to 900 mm, tail length from 300 to 555 mm****, and weight from 3 to ***14 kg***. Males are slightly larger...(MacDonald and Reynolds, 2005)

Interesting... they certainly are black, but from what i read (didn't read that much) they seem to be quite rare.

I'm not saying anyone is wrong. I'm just saying that what I read said that they were rare for their native country. I'm pretty sure there are lots of pumas in the oz bush.... I know I take mine out there as much as possible

Note tail lenght and large eyes which would standout in a spot light.
    No Moggy would come close.

These 2 pics I think came from a Aussie shooting Mag a few years ago.

Do you know where this tiger was apparently shot? And was it definitely in Aus?

Instead of making known what it is you DON'T believe in, how bout you tell us what it is you DO believe in?

Does the existence of something seen or unseen equal irrelevance, just because one person doesn't believe it..

Some people believe Land Rovers actually have a Soul - give me break,

Why is is so hard to believe big Cats Are about.

How many new species are discovered every year - how come they have been not been seen by humans or been camera shy up until the point they were discovered , .... immaculate conception perhaps ??
