I'm expecting Tom Waterhouse to pop up with an ad saying that he knows nothing about history of conflict in the middle east, or why the soapbox was banned, but this thread being locked in 24 hours is currently $3.08.

I'm affraid that the recent tangent of live gambling odds during debate does not meet the threads voluntary code of conduct for the promotion of gambling.
The code prohibits promotion of odds during debate, in the 30 minutes pre and post debate or in gaps of debate. Descrete promotion of betting odds is permitted during scheduled commercial breaks during debate so long as the promotion is clearly identified as betting promotion in your avatar or signature line.

Since I am living with my family in this part of the world, I will reply to all posts by quotes from great people who believed in peace.
Please before playing the drums of war and legitimate it, think of the innocent casualties, think of the children and elderly who will suffer, think that with the price of weapons many diseases will be eradicated, many hungry persons will be fed, many thirsty communities will enjoy the grace of drinking and eating.
I believe in that because I experienced the horrors of war and I don't want my kids to experience it again.
We are the children of life and not of death and destruction.
Live and give peace
An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.
Mahatma Gandhi
One cannot subdue a man by holding back his hands. Lasting peace comes not from force.
David Borenstein
Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.
Albert Einstein
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
Mother Teresa
Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Hi Scott
I had been under the impression that reparations and compensation has not been paid and it seems that I am correct, at least in my research this afternoon.
It seems that while reparations were intended in the 1948 UN determination (to be paid for by the taxpayers of the entire World) mostly this remains unpaid.
"Despite the United Nations determination in 1948 that the “refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbours should be permitted to do so atthe earliest practicable date”, the nascent State of Israel enacted laws to bar their return and expropriate their property. To date, Palestinians have not been allowed to repatriate or repossess their properties nor have they received compensation for their losses. The injustice of the unresolved dispossession is exemplified by the case of former Palestinian residents of West Jerusalem, many of whom live in East Jerusalem within a few kilometres of ancestral homes that remain intact but occupied, often by recent Jewish immigrants." http://www.palestine-studies.org/files/pdf/jq/10320.pdf There are numerous other publications.
In Australia and under Aboriginal land-rights cases since Mabo millions of hectares of been returned under native title and much of it has been onsold for the benefit of the current native title holders excluding it from their own future generations. How will this be different from any other privatley owned land? Should that also be returned too?

Wait and see the reaction of your community when the building of an Islamic house of prayer is suggested in your area. This was tried in Perths North Eastern suburbs with much opposition. So much for multicultural Australia.
