blah blah blah "Drivers of cars made between March and October 2009 said they needed to step more heavily on the brake pedal. The recall includes 3000 cars in the Asia-Pacific region."

My absolute biggest hate of toyotas is their digital brake pedal. Breathe on the pedal and you launch through the windscreen. Either Toyota think all its buyers are weakling jellyfish or they have no idea of driving finesse... May as well just have a switch to put your foot on. But obviously all the sheeple love this fine japenese engineering and complain when they actually have to press the pedal with more than 17gm of pressure.

    Anyways - rant off.

its an interesting fact that the worlds leading vehicle manufacturers have up to and above 35% support from their governments. If Australia cannot inject that type of funding into our local vehicle manufacturers then it is the complete end of the line within 2-3 years. I'm glad I'm retiring, the employment situation will be catastrophic as the flow-on from the demise of the automotive industry spreads across the country. I wonder if he who believes himself to be the salvation of Australia in September has considered or addressed this situation or will blame the outgoing government for the collapse. I believe this issue will be the most important issue for all Australians in the last 25 years....it will affect a lot of people dramatically.

I read that the highest subsidiser of its automotive industry is Germany. Can't remember the details, but apparently MB, BMW, VW and Audi have had ginormous help from the German taxpayers.

you are 100% correct DiscoMick and I really think we should do similar.....whether or not its for Toyota, Ford or Holden. The govt is meeting today but if they don't make substantial offers to the vehicle manufacturers then they should suggest that they close their doors and allow a full revised vehicle import program. My only problem is if this occurs how can we keep their snouts out of the trough?
