I don't know which suburb the Defeer was located in but I am sure one of us on the forum could have been close enough to look at it and send some true photos of it too you before you outlaid any cash or booked tickets to travel.
I have done this for a person before with a motorcycle.

Werribee is not in my normal area of work as a Sales Rep, but I have checked out vehicles where not inconvenient for members. Happy to do so because there is no reason for the seller to BS and I enjoy looking at Land Rovers

At least you didn't buy it sight unseen just from the description. Would have been more than $1200 lost.

By the sounds of it, you'd have to spend a few years trashing it before you can ask that sort of money.

    That's landrovers for you!
They have no control over their current owners.

One of life's little experiences, in hindsight. I hope the beers were good
I also travelled from NSW to Tas to buy a defender that didn't match the description, but unlike this horror story mine was only cosmetic.
I payed the local mechanic to check it over and he said it was perfect, didn't have one scratch. he failed to mention the crushed bonnet and the bent roof rack. I guess he was a little too local.
Good suggestion, RACV or member would be a good idea.
