I still love Landys but would definately avoid buying new as I can't be arsed being made to feel as if I have to go cap in hand to ask for something that should be covered, at least in my head anyway. In my case I hold the dealer mainly responsible, they sold me the car and have not matched my loyalty with their service. the Landrover brand has indeed got a proud heritage it's just a shame that the same can't be said for the people selling them, Cheers

Im afraid its a bit late now. Ive ordered it! Ill decide if I like it over the first few months that I own it. Its not all that different in type to other trucks ive owned, so Im thinking it will be fine, if not, I will try something else.

I just have to last out the Warranty period before I will take over repairs and servicing myself. This is my first ever brand new car so I am hoping it will be a good experience, and with a bit of luck and some good maintenance Im hoping it will see me through about 20 years..... (or longer)

Ive been less than impressed so far and they dont even have my money yet.

I went to test drive a 90 prior to ordering one. I had oranised it over the phone and email with the dealer. Drove the 2 hours to Parramatta, (my closest dealer), arrived at 330 pm to be told that they have parked their only demo in behind some other cars and that I would have to come back another day. Drove the 2 hours home with the $hits.

So now I have ordered it from a different dealer (newcastle) and I STILL havent driven one. I hope I like it.....Otherwise there will be a low km 90 for sale.

I wrote to the manager telling him what hapenned. No reply. If this is the way they have treated me prior to them getting my money I shudder to think how it will be afterwards..... Time will tell, but I am less than impressed so far.
Write to the dealer principle (snail mail, not an email) detailing the situation and include the sales manager non-response. Put down that you wish to be contacted with respect to the matter and give a (reasonable) date by which you want to hear back.

If that doesn't happen, then email the dealer principle with a copy of the letter you sent attached, asking why you have not received any follow-up. CC the sales manager you wrote to and also Land Rover so they can see how their dealers are dealing with potential customers.

    Garry,

Statutory warranty is only 12 months or 20 000km so that has expired already.

I should also declare that I'm working with warranty claims every day in my role, although on the manufacturer's side of the fence. I have a better than average idea of how they work these things.

Not being sure about how the heircarchy in the dealer works, I thought CCing in the sales manager would have been good enough.... but there has only been silence.

Given I walked and ordered it from another dealer I assume thats all done and dusted.

I will be getting some advice from the dealer I DID order it from with regards to a mechanic where I can get the servicing done without violating my warranty. I live a long long way from any LR dealer. I assume that many of the cars they sell go to rural places a long way from the dealer and they have mechanics I can take it to.

Part of the reason I didn't make it to a dealer was working away from home for most of 2011, see if they will let you use a third party to do your prerequisit corosion inspection, after all a trained monkey can do it and I'm sure he would'nt charge $120 a pop

It appears that the importer is not doing enough to ensure the dealer network is doing as it should, as I am considering purchasing a defender I am disappointed to read about poor warranty and customer service from the dealers. I will not be buying a new one unless something changes in their customer service.
