    dont you hate it when

    you spend an hour plus loking for a 16mm ring spanner after a 16mm sockets slips on nicely on the the head of the bolt.............only to discover the nut at the other end is 17mm grrrrrrrrrr.....i must have pushed five 17mm spanners aside in my frustration trying to find a 16mm ringy

    and than after waiting three days for my calliper brakets to be made i bolt them up to only discover i stuff up one of the measurements.........back to the drawing board

    what a productive night....not

    Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate you should spend a day with me then, I am aTool maker and fitter depending on what is available. I do a lot of machinery installation, new and old. At the moment it is old, so a good variety of bolt head and nut sizes for the same thread. For ever getting a spanner out for one bit only to find the next bolt is a different size. Has any one heard of and used a 7mm allen key? That is the stuff I find.

    ohhh wait till you start coming across early security nuts.

    Who the hell thought up the pentagon shaped nut, no known spanner or socket fits them ever, you can only hope to get a stilson on.

    then theres the ones that have been painted over so many times that the 18mm goes on nicely but in reality its a 5/8th so when you put the torque on the paint gives the socket slips and then the edges are rounded off, but theres still too much paint to get a 6 sider on.

    and then there is the 7mm LH thread............... 12mm spanner fitted perfectly, but after breaking the bolt and working out what is was, where the hell do you find another one? Who the hell would use 7mm LH thread. Tapped the shaft out to 8mm LH and hopefully it lasted for the customer. (Didn't tell them what happened)

    At least now I have a set of LH thread taps........inc 7mm.

    Have any of use tryed to put a nut on a bolt that just happens to be were your doing it by feel ? , and it's the same as the other few you just done , only to find it will not start ! You'r getting cramp , the swear box should be full, only to find , the Nut does not have a thread cut into it . jimr1
