Nice to see some other folks have seen Snatch. Great film.
On the topic of pigs, diving home with the mrs the other night when one wandered out infront of me.
Seriously considered introducing him to my barwork but I figured I'd rather not take the chance and damage something a fair way from home in the middle of the night.

Just saw the title and thought this was another 'sneaky cops" thread!!!

    My bad!!!

What was the endless chain and the wheel rim on the drivers side used for Ian? (and late door hinges I see) Doesnt look too bad for a pigger bus.

I'm not sure Digger, it may have been for lifting pigs or tensioning fences.

One of my cousins used to operate a freezer box in the Winton district on behalf of a Brisbane exporter of game meat. The shooters would bring him their pigs, goats, kangaroos for freezing before being sent to Brisbane for further processing and export mainly to Germany and Russia.

One time after a run of good seasons the pigs were so fat their eyes looked like they were countersunk into fat faces. Enquiries were coming from Europe as to whether the pigs were actually game as they didn't taste very gamy. They EEU defines game meat as being field shot and dressed.

Rowley asked his boss how gamy did they want them. He could leave them out in the sun for a day or three if they wanted them gamy.

I probably unloaded that box more than once Brian. Macropods were far easier than pigs.

I got this little sucker at a mates farm at narrabri, his place is over run and to make any REAL dent in the population would be a team of professional shooters with semi auto rifles, one night we hit the crop field with the spotties and saw at least 120-150 pigs plus to many babies to count, needless to say I was glad I had the browning 44mag lever and my lever shottie both fully loaded that night! But the boy in the pic just strolled out 5-8M in front of the car took one look at me and I was driving (hunting rigs got no doors)I cracked the gun closed pulled to my shoulder and squeezed the shot in behind his shoulder as he broke into a sprint to get away, dropped him on the spot with 00-buck shot bar a few twitches it was instant

In the early 1990's one of the Diamantina stations down river from the Boulia Road had a major pig problem. They got a married couple team of shooters in for two years who took something like 6,000 pigs down with no noticeable difference in the population. Eventually the cockie woke up that the couple were looking after their future by avoiding shooting sows as far as was possible.

Another property had feral goats galore and the cockie reckoned the pro. shooter team brought in to clean up the goats made more money from goats than he did from cattle.

A number of stations here have been subsidising their income (keeping themselves afloat) by mustering and selling goats live. They often bring in more per head than sheep.

Yeah a couple farms way out west I go to do the same thing, twice a year they muster wild goats in, at one point my mate was getting $80-90 a head but I believe at point has dropped to about half that and has steadied out at about 60-65 a head last time I was up there
