It was our breakaway song. Played very loud as we dropped the lines and contact with other warships. Rocked a few warships, mine frequently

It was the theme song for the Americas Cup, both in 1983 and 1987 offshore Fremantle. They must of had some mighty amplifier on board the tender, as it could be heard from my helicopter flying escort!

Warren Jones | | The Guardian

In 1973, Jones became a director of Bond Corp Holdings, and watched a year later as his boss first challenged for the America's Cup. He was appointed manager of the next Bond challenge, in 1977, which lost 4-0, and was back in 1980 for the third unsuccessful challenge, before accepting the task again for 1983. He was also in charge of Bond's defence of the cup in 1986-87, which lost to another Fremantle-based Australian defence candidate.

Jones was back in business last year, having raised the funds to bring Australia II to the Cowes anniversary regatta. With the racing boat, he brought her tender, Black Swan, which he purchased after the unsuccessful defence in Fremantle in 1987. Each day, as he towed Australia II out to the course, the strains of Men at Work's song, I Come From A Land Down Under - the theme used in 1983 - was heard from his boat.

I was driving around, Aussie flag out the window, with that playing as loud as I could. I went to the record shop asking about MAW, and she almost screamed, until I told her I wanted the SECOND album, as I had already bought Business as Usual some months previously.

Parochial nonsense, in hindsight. It was a yacht race. WTF cares?

Was it the one I posted? You played the original version at all these things? I hadn't heard it ever played on radio or anywhere really. That's cool as
