    Production of the 4.0 ended in 2001. The final version of the engine, used in the Land Rover Discovery, produced 140 kW at 4750 rpm and 340 N·m at 2600 rpm.
    As opposed to the Factory TD5 spec of:
    135kw @ 4200 rpm and 300Nm at 1950 rpm

    Now, A V8 can be chipped for about $450.00 and gains a huge 18bhp (thats about 13kw) and around 30Nm or $34.60 per Kw

    The TD5 base tune is $340.00 and gains 55kw (and around 80Nm of torque) taking it to 190kw and 380Nm (at 1950 rpm) with a flat torque pattern from around 1800rpm to just shy of 4000 rpm

    Thats about $6.20 per Kw


    It also sits the TD5 right in the torque band off the line, and holds it there - allowing a much better acceleration curve especially when loaded.


    And it still does sub 10l/100km...


    The only drinking being done is by the V8
