I too wish him all the best, he has had a hard time of it and a lot of it is to do I imagine with bad associations along the way, also

I should think the above suggestion of painting vacated commision homes etc for a time and getting to earn their trust etc would be a great approach. I hope they listen and act on it.

Send my thoughts, I can imagine how devastated he must be.

Everyone makes mistakes, don't judge your step son by his past. It's what he does in the future, that will determine the rest of his life. He needs your support , now. more than ever. I speak from experience. I know that after years of frustration, it would be easy to cut him loose. But, you would regret that for the rest of your life. Go to your local MP, it's election time, tell them if they do not try to help, in whatever way they can, you will go public. There is no more helpful politician than one who thinks the public will vote for his opponent. Use the system, good luck. [ Also, your stepson, if he has an ounce of decency, will appreciate the fact you didn't bush him ] Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

    How ironic.

Housing commission won't allow someone with a criminal record to work on a house.

Yet some of the people that get handed the houses to live in...

You have hit the nail on the head there, mate!!!The son has told me some stories about some of the people who live in these houses.

London Boy and Basil 135, thanks for your ideas, they give me something to work on.

Justinc, yes, you are right about bad associations, he was easily led as a teenager and fell in with the wrong crowd, despite his mother and myself's best efforts.

Bob10, yes you are right about supporting him. I had him written off for years and he was told if he went to jail we would never visit him, and we never did and I have no regrets because I am a strong believer in everybody taking responsibility for their actions. However, this time he is older and more experienced in life, I can see a definite change for the better and I am also a strong believer in helping people if they are making a genuine effort to help themselves.

Thanks again everybody for your input.
