My Formula Fords never sounded that good

Sadly there's no way a pushrod Kent @ 7000RPM can match the sound of a BDA or BDD @ 12,000RPM, but at least I had the block of a BDA sitting behind me

Some of the most fun I've had sitting down was (briefly) behind the wheels of Escorts too

[edit] When I was a kid of about 16 a few of us had ventured to the Glow Worm tunnel above Newnes.

It was a weekend and we had to hike in (an older mate took us in his HR Holden.
As we stopped for a break you could hear a BDA in the distance, so we sat, perched on the hillside and listened and watched this Escort come into view up the valley and then disappear up towards Newnes. It took minutes and minutes, we had lots of elevation and it was a clear, crisp morning so the sound carried beautifully.

No one said a word, we just sat, transfixed.

    [2nd edit]

BTW, after watching through for the second time, there's a 110 in the background @ 7:46

I swear we listened for fifteen minutes but was afraid everyone would think I was exaggerating.
The BDA's in the Formula Pacific's screamed more but they mostly ran sans mufflers and often used megaphone too.
And everyone loves the howl of 48mm DCOE's

A friend of mine has an immaculate, 77,000km old Mk2 2 door, only issue is it is a 1600 auto .

Would make a great conversion though
