How Long Since Asked To Show Drivers Licence

I've just renewed my drivers & marine Qld licence for $140 for 5 years. It's one of the flash new micro-chip cards & I realised, for that money, the last time a Walloper asked to see my licence was in 1985. Since then I've only used it for I.D.
So, is this the norm or is it different in other parts of Oz??

They often check your licence at RBT stops in NSW.

At least once a year for me. Twice so far this year, though, once when the boys in blue stopped me when I was going a little faster than I should and the second at an RBT.

Not bad given I was unable to drive for 5 months of the year so far!

Because of where we live, it'll always be during summer school holidays and probably another time during another school holiday...but other than that just ID

Whatever happened to "None shall pass"?
Probably when I got pulled over, more than a year ago. Despite being a P plater, I too am rarely asked for it at RBTs. Again, not had one in ages, despite the fact they set up opposite our road.

The problem was they did pass. Then they did a quick u-turn and came after me with lights blazing and sirens going
I was doing 68 in a 60, downhill, but fair enough, I was breaking the limit. Taught me to be a bit more wary of downhill stretches in the Golf (it has very little engine braking, given there's no loads on it like in most cars)

Try buying take away grog in Alice Springs, you need to show your licence every time. You know if you drink too much if it wears out before the expiry date............haha.
