I have been asked for my licence every time I have been stopped for a RBT check; probably about half a dozen times a year.

I had to show mine last week between Tully and Cardwell on the Bruce Highway. For my efforts I got a ticket for speeding, 117 in a 100.

I doubt I was going that fast personally, the alarm on my GPS goes off at 105 then goes mad at 115, I may have heard the 105 one not sure as it can be drowned by the radio, but the 115 one there is no chance I would have missed it.

The cop car was coming the other way and flicked on his lights, did a U turn and met me for a chat on the other side of the road. I told him of course his equipment must be faulty and he allowed me to look at the number on the black box and of course I have to take his word for that they are from my speed. He asked me if I checked my speedo when his lights went on, I had to laugh and told him I got such a bloody fright when his car lit up like a Christmas tree coming round the corner that checking my speedo was the last thing on my mind.

I am very annoyed at myself, I generally never speed, have never had points in the last 20 years, I was obviously going faster than I should have been, but I am also annoyed at the system that there is no real recourse or way to prove that I was not doing 117kph, and the difference in a few kph is 2 points and a few $$.

I was looking at buying a blackbox camera gps recorder but have since read that even if you take the footage to court and it proves you were not doing what the police equipment said they would still not rule in your favor, a seriously flawed system in my opinion.

Anyway I have decided to spend the money on Cruise Control instead, prevention and all that, trying to keep my speed sitting on the limit all the way back to the Gold Coast was tiring and I was waiting for a copper around every bend.

it works both ways. i was being incorrectly defected by an officer about 3 years ago. i said he was acting like an asshole.

he threatened me with arrest for disorderly behaviour (i think).

i ask why. he said i just called him an asshole.

i replied no, i said you're acting like an asshole, asshole.

his partner cracked up laughing.

the defect was worth it for that. haha

As of this year they have stopped asking to see my licence at RBT's. I still pull it out ready though.

I've never been RBT'd in a Land Rover... and the 1 time in over 3 years of driving I have been RBT'd I was driving another make... How's that?

According to this desirable officer of the law, it was idiots like me who cause fatal accidents on this road wtf By this time I'm afraid I lost it big time and was about to deck him but was led away to cool down by my passengers.

I ended up with a $198.00 fine which they refused to let me pay at 10 cents per week I've since followed several cars around that corner and every one of those cars has cut the corner more than what I did.

Should I put in a complaint against this officer with attitude ??

I suggest you "suck it up".

You crossed the line and got pinged.. That's how It works. Wrong place, right time for a Cop to be there.

And no need for childish "but he did it" comments - He didn't get caught!!!

And he's right, vehicles crossing centre lines do kill people - I've lost a couple of friends to this occurrence.

Are you sure your attitude didn't help intensify the situation?!
