Thread: When oh when

We do the search and filter thing too. Have a lookat what's on, and then decide which program (because there's rarely more than one that interests us) we're going to watch.

On the odd occasion there is more than one, what really bugs me is when the station makes everything run late. In theory a program will run from 8.30 till 9.30, but in reality it can be plus or minus 20 mins from that time.

When there's a half hour show on another side (QI and Mock the Week are two favourites on ABC) the choice is abandon one show or miss the other.

I have a good video recorder that skips from the start to finish of the ads. I don't watch the shows as they happen, I record them then edit out the ads and start and finish credits and watch latter at my convenience. A one hour commercial show is actually about 40 mins long. As a rule I've found it takes about 5 mins to edit out the 20 mins of ads and start/finish credits giving me 15 mins more time for myself.

It does pay to let the recording run way overtime so as to not miss the ending.

We also record so we can skip through the ads. Channel 9 is the worst for starting programs late. Most commercial TV is just rubbish now, maybe the best shows have been bought by pay-tv. If it wasn't for the ABC and SBS free TV would be a wasteland. It's no wonder Youtube is now the world's most popular TV channel.

IView for channel two on the net and also SBS on demand is another site. As I of course don`t know your telly, but most can be used as a monitor.

We usually only watched stuff we've recorded but so many times commercial programs have not added on the time a show is lengthened by all the ads. and self promotion.
And this crap which is constantly in yer face across the bottom of the screen advertising some forthcoming garbage while you're watching what you've recorded makes me mad. I am mad anyway but that's different......

Unfortunately gave up on FTA ages ago - with the exception of ABC. Pretty much only watch pay now, which I suppose is what they would like everyone to do...

Seems all the good shows I like are on pay, they have the money to buy the decent stuff and leave the scraps to FTA...

I do the same although I don't watch much telly anymore. Full of crap
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Still some good ones out there; anyone else loving 'Vikings' on SBS?

Got the ABC iView on the PS3, and it works well, not looked for the SBS On Demand one though.
