im not a hoon, im a car enthusiast.
Tried to be, but my first car was a Hillman Imp with no hub caps, board racks and dodgey rings.....Who used to be a hoon?
Cheers,
Hoon?
Me?
Are you suggesting that I would take a toyota echo sliding around back dirt roads at silly speeds?
I enjoy mucking around in cars when it's appropriate, for example I hold the current speed record along my girlfriends driveway...
But I'm well aware of when it's appropriate and when it's not.
Now that I have a serious girlfriend who spends a fair amount of time with me in the vehicle I've certainly calmed down.
Not sure if it still around..unfortunately.. I (reluctantly) sold it in Brisbane around '94 to pay for an airfare to see my now wife. My mate says he saw it a few months after I sold it driving around with the front end stoved in - a real shame as the 10A headlight surrounds were the last NOS ones Mazda Australia had in stock and were pristine- they were and are like rocking horse dung - like most original RX bits and bobs.
Good luck with the RX4 coupe- my best mate had one of them with a 13B B/Port - I could hear him coming for miles! Sounded like a swarm of killer bees when we went cruising together..
I still don't think the wife fully understands or gives me the credit for the sacrifice I made for her...
Cheers,

The engine that came with the RX4 is identical to the one in his RX7, including the twin turbos etc. Not the original engine, but I believe what was intended for the drag racing set-up. Knowing my young bloke, he'll put in whatever will make it go fastest.
Know what you mean mate. There's a few V8 dunnydoors and falcoons around here whose owners THINK they are quick. There's a section of little used road out the back of one of the larger mines around here whey they all go to "try them out", often under the supervision of the local boys in blue. The little red Mazda has embarrassed all the wannabe's in dunnydoors and falcoons out there, and most won't come back for seconds.
I used to have a very quick GT Falcon and later a pretty quick dunnydoor wagon (ex Gold Squad cop car) - while these probably had a higher top speed than the Mazda does, neither of these would get near the RX7 in a quarter mile straight line, and if you throw a couple of corners into the equation, forget it. That little RX7 sticks to the road like nothing I've been in before.
But I agree with you - the look on their face is priceless. I used to get the same enjoyment quite recently seeing the look on the faces of so called souped up V6 dunnydoor drivers when I blew them away at the lights in a bog standard Prado - the 4 litre Toyota petrol in them actually goes quite well and would surprise a lot of people. Company fuel card was appreciated though.![]()

Well, I'm different, & proud to be so. ...I have ALWAYS loved my V8s. My motto was, "There's No Sustitute For Cubic Inches". I believe they now say, "There's No Replacement For Displacement"?
Just a big lazy 5-6 litres rumbling away up front...ya can see the bonnet rise, with just a touch of the throttle, with all that low down torque, & the sound of a big V8, working hard, with a nice exhaust system....well, it's pure heaven for me!
Yep, always loved 'em, I grew up in the golden age of American Muscle, & whilst I've never owned an American Muscle Car, if I could, it would be a Dodge Challenger 426 Hemi R/T. Now that is the absolute ultimate.....For Me.
Does anyone remember the original "Vanishing Point" C1970, starring Barry Newman (Petrocelli!) & the Dodge Challenger?....Now THAT was a good car movie.
Cheers, Pickles.
