National Police Remembrance Day
This Sunday is an opportunity to take a little pause and remember those who serve and protect us.
In Victoria some may know this day as Blue Ribbon Day.
As part of this day 157 lives will be remembered for their sacrifice in Victoria.
Unfortunately I don't know the national figures.
Here is the link to the Blue Ribbon site...Police Blue Ribbon - Home
Please consider supporting this event.
The good lady wife has gone down to the local police station and grabbed me a badge to wear on the day.
I know we have a few officers on our site and I'd like to say thank you for what you do daily.
Cheers, Kyle.

Not sure if it's state wide, but, there is a service and day out local to me on Friday.
Big gathering of SA Police at Banrock Station Winery.
History behind National Police Remembrance Day,
first commemorated in 1989, is held each year on September 29 or the nearest working day, in memory of police officers killed in the performance of their duty.
A total of 61 local police officers have lost their lives in the performance of their duty since 1838 when the South Australia Police was formed.
Police Remembrance Day is observed on September 29th as it marks the Feast of the Archangel, St Michael, who was always fighting evil.

National Police Remembrance Day
National Police Remembrance Day on September 29th each year, marks the day Australian Police Services stops to honour its officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
One of the most important days on the policing calendar, National Police Remembrance Day is a time for members of the Service and the community to remember, honour and say 'thank you' to the dedicated men and women who have died whilst on duty.
This year the service will be held on Friday 27th September, 2013 in SA.
A memorial Service is also held at the Police Academy and Banrock Station each year.
Blue Ribbons
Police officers, staff and members of the public are encouraged to pay tribute by wearing a blue ribbon. (checked band ribbons also)
S.A. POLICE ROLL OF HONOUR
(Banrock Station was the site where the first two SA Police to die in the line of duty were drowned.. The Police historical site or the National Police Memorial have details of all POlice who died in the line of duty)
