You can set up your EBay account to NOT receive bids from certain buyers

    You can Block buyers who:

    Have received 3 Unpaid Item strike(s) within 12 Month(s)
Have a feedback score of -1 or lower
    Haven't gone through phone verification

I have set up my account as this. You can also block specific sellers if you wish to do so so they are unable to bid on your items. Of course they only have to ask their mates bid for them if they want to, but it all helps.

I have gone over to gumtree. No costs (yet), local, I don't bother to answer people from interstate, and it has always been cash on pick up. I have just sold an old Disco 1 on gumtree, sold within 6 hours of putting it up and cash payment. Hassle free.

I listed a pair of leather Discovery seats on eBay a couple of years ago and someone hit the 'buy now' button half an hour after they went on. I may be a bit slower than some, but it took me longer than half an hour to place the ad. The bloke had 100% positive feedback. He then never made contact, never answered calls, never responded to messages. I had a look at his feedback and under a 'positive', several sellers had said what a clown this bloke was, bought items and never contacted or paid, etc. He was a serial pest but the only way to say anything about him was to leave 'positive' feedback! The positive feedback rating can be very misleading. I always have a look at the comments these days.
The overwhelming majority of my eBay experiences have been good, it's very frustrating when you come up against someone like this though.

You do know that Gumtree is owned by Ebay and that you have even fewer protections in Gumtree than you do in ebay.

He has tried and they are doing nothing about it, we know where the seller lives so may be time for a visit or at least a letter .
