Why not start a thread on the differing political parties from state to state, and how good/bad the road conditions and facilities are?

If you dont feel comfortable driving at the posted speed limit, WHY? Is your chosen car/caravan combination unsuitable, poorly loaded, in poor condition, or are you simply incompetent to drive your rig without posing a danger to all other road users? If any of those factors is the case, WHY are you on the road like that to start with?

They complain that travelling at the posted speed limit restricts their ability to see the countryside.

Honestly, if I live long enough to retire, I can only hope I can afford to buy a gutless 4wd to tow a Taj Mahal on wheels, then I'll clear off down to Victoria and South Australia and live out my days crawling around the place at 30km/h..... and on the back of the van? "Queenslanders Revenge"

geez, glad i didn't bump into you last week........i have a few grey but an only forty and do a bit of touring......my defender was running a tad hot last week towing to camper trailer so i backed off to keep it under 100degrees....yep 90km/hr at time, OMG how dare me......sure some cars and trucks had to overtake us....but that life

I agree with you Kelvin, I do not know have the chance to drive on the old Hume or Pacific hwy behind an old Kombi.
During the 70's I remember the VW vans holding the traffic for many kilometers and there was no hope in overtaking them.
We do not have these problems now.

Hey Gav, I think this thread has become a slanging match between the BANANA benders & the Vics. If the Grey Nomads did not go to the Norther State it would possibly go broke. Remember it does not matter where people come from they need fuel & food.

That's because old Kombis can be worth up to $60k or $80k nowdays and are only brought out from the garage for special displays.

Sold my fully rebuilt split screen camper to a mate back in the late 70's, .....................for 500 british pounds

I saw one advertized in just cars recently for $65,000.00
