It's not so bad. I ended up buying myself steel toe capped shoes and boots to suit all occasions after my niece kept standing on my foot!

Maybe I should change my name to non-barefoot Dave?

Yep, I know what it's like! I stubbed my toe in '85 & I also don't like footwear!

Putting in back in place will be the best form of pain relief. You need to put it bac as soon a s possible, head to the ED and get them to do it.

If you can't get to the ED, then you need to put some traction (pull on it) on it and try to rotate it back into place. Without seeing it can not offer any more advice (too much all ready)

The treatment once in place, either fracture or dislocation is the same, strapping it to its buddy as has been said.

Just back from ED. It was a broken in a way that made it stick out. They took one look and said "we need to straighten that".

I asked for nitrox gas, they gave me a local injection and then gave it a couple of good tugs and tapped it up. Feels much better.

Glad to hear things are better.
3-4 years ago I dislocated my little toe out sideways.
Came inside and said to my lady "You need to straighten this now while it is numb!"
Slip, click aaaaaaaaaaah, better.
