The robot must have been planning to get off early for the long-weekend! Had its software processing other things.![]()
A lady where my daughter works bought a new Hyundai I30. A few weeks later it developed a clunking noise in the rear drivers side. It went in for inspection but no fault found, nor could it be replicated on a rough road. A few weeks later the l h rear started the same problem with no obvious failure. The vehicle was taken in to main repair depot and the problem was discovered. Apparently the welding robot missed some body panel welds during construction and the bodywork was floating around. It seems this was the second vehicle to have this problem. Jim

Reminds me of when I worked at a Lada dealership back in the UK in the 80's. Got a brand new Lada Niva in for a PDI inspection (pre delivery) started it up and it only ran on three cylinders (had four), always replaced the dodgy Russian spark plugs but still ran rough afterwards. Removed the rocker cover and cam was just going around without valves moving! factory had not fitted the cam followers to No.3 cylinder![]()
I'd say it is very unusual for the the way that Hyundai have been for the last few years. I had a Santa Fe from brand new back in 2007. In the 3 years I had it, the only warranty repair I had was one of the release handles for the 3rd row seats broke.
From local reports on the Sante Fe, I've put it at the top of my shortlist for replacing the Rangie....![]()
You'd find it a very different beast to the Rangie, James, the 2.2 diesel fuel consumption was very good, it was well put together, though you could only describe the AWD system as adequate.
You'd get away with taking it on rough tracks or a firm sandy beach (and I did) but little more than that.
Did yours have the CDL?
