No cause for concern here folks. Just another journalist who got them mixed up again.

Not like it's a secret, the D4 update has "DISCOVERY" on the bonnet (as it should have when the Discovery was released).

There will be 3 product lines:
    - Land Rover (utilitarian, off-road line, will include a yuppy model/Wrangler rival, something like the concept car I imagine)
    - Discovery (soccer mum line)
    - Range Rover (pretentious snob line, so people with Evoques feel special )

All models will fit under each name plate, under each line will be a series of models.

    This information is no secret.

But I believe the new defender will be the biggest secret in automotive history until it is released.

    Cheers
    Will

    Apparently LR don't NEED a Defender . . . so some say . . . over and over again . . . http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread...82#post2005982
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

Well it could be argued that they don't need the current one, it's low volume, low performance, and Mahindras quite frankly has better ergonomics, so not many people buy Defenders, LR could easily survive without the present one, maybe even save money, but with no investment in that market they are just handing it to Toyota and Jeep, even Nissan is practically out of it now.

Something to rival the 70 series, that's what they need, something they can sell to more than the few die hard fans that buy them now, something that looks like a Defender, not that DC100 abortion, it looks nothing like a Deefer, but a car that does what the defender does well, and fixes what it doesn't do well.

Toyota has done it, Jeep has done it, Mercedes is doing it with that horrid looking G-Wagen thing, and underneath it's the same asthmatic heap of rubbish from the 80's. So why doesn't LR do it? That's a question I can't even guess an answer to!

They have the technology and capability and now the funding to do it, so I'm hoping we'll be pleasantly surprised sometime in 2015.

Anyway this thread is about Freelanders, so to get back on topic, this is all because the original car was such a POS, even though the theory was excellent, the name is tarnished beyond repair.

Geez, if your all that worried about what the new Defender will be, go and buy one now....

If the new one is going to be that bad, then the old ones will be worth a fortune in a few years....

You think they are holding their value well now - just wait a while.

Hmmmm, I may even go and take my own advise....
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
