For those who tow car floats and large caravans behind their 4WD how many people are aware the truck speed limit of 100KPH applies to them?
I can't count the number of times I've been overtaken by various 4WD with large tri-axle caravans or car floats with a load.
In NSW the rules specify: "The default speed limit on a road (where no lower speed limit is applicable) for a vehicle with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) or gross combination mass (GCM) over 4.5 tonnes, is 100 km/h – Rule 25(2) of the Australian Road Rules 2008"
An empty D4 at 2.7 tonne and a 2 tonne caravan or car float puts you well over the 4.5 tonne GCM.

just checked, i'm only around 4T....
I'm over with a the loaded horse float. Combined weight of our horse float plus horses just pushes the limit
I think we would be getting close to 6.5 ton. 3.2 ton of van on a loaded 130.

Given my 130 has a GCM of 7.5T regardless of whether I have a trailer on or not, that would mean it's 100 all the time?
And given heavy vehicle rules are federal it would apply Australia wide?
Now there's some revenue for someone
I wonder what the GCM of a Commodore is, do they still do the 2.2T tow pack?
