Couldn't find anything on Google, but it may have something to do with Massey Ferguson tractors, Regards Frank.
Hello All,
I had a look at the top of the gear selector plate on my Nissan SD33 semi-converted Series 3 and it has the following information on it...
MF Conv
03 7933 3888 (Damn how do you stop Skype from converting telephone numbers automatically? Go away)
MFC 021
I thought that amount of numbers might be a telephone number in Victoria and I tried it - disconnectedI substituted the first number after 03 to a 1 instead of a 7 and it also did not work. So much for that idea
Has anyone heard of MF Conv (Conversions)?
I always thought that it was a Nissan SD33 diesel motor with a Nissan gear box. However, one of the gurus in the Nissan Patrol forum suggests it is not a Nissan gear box at all. It does have a Land Rover transfer box on the end of it though.
How is everyone at guess that gear box manufacturer and model from photographs?
Kind Regards
Lionel

Hello All,
A picture paints a thousand words...
How is that "let's identify that gear box" going?
Now that the thought is planted into my head the conversion section between engine and gear box seems to be getting more obviousDoh!
This project just gets more interesting by the day.
Mental note to self ... "do not buy another deceased estate motor vehicle that is semi-completed. This means you cannot talk to the previous owner about what their conversion involved, what parts they used, and where the parts all originated from".
Kind Regards
Lionel
Lionel, I think you have misread the number, I read it as 03 7933388, not 03 79333888. Now try adding a 9 between the area code and the number (03 97933388) and you may do better. (When Melbourne went from 7 to 8 digit phone numbers they added a 9 at the front of the number, I think.I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.)
Cheers, Mick.

G'day Mick,
Thanks for the reply and the astute observation. Ummm what year did the Victorian numbers change their number of digits in the telephone numbers?
How old is this conversion????
Talk about opening Pandora's Box - it was hard enough trying to establish if the Nissan SD33 was a 12 or 24 volt system. With help from the Nissan Patrol Club
I was able to find out it has 11 volts written on the glow plugs.
P.S. Damn that phone number with Mick's adaptation turns out to be a dedicated fax number!
Kind Regards
Lionel
Same time as the rest of Aus, mid nineties I think.
Cheers, Mick

Hello All,
I had a win. I thought outside the box and reckoned that there cannot be that many adaptor plate manufacturers in Australia so I contacted Dellow Conversions. Within half an hour of my email being sent Dellow's were kind enough to send back a reply.
"MF Conv" stood for Mark French Conversions who are now known as Mark's 4WD Adaptors.
I have sent them my series of photographs with the details such as the serial numbers.
Cross fingers I might be able to find out the parts, models and manufacturers of my Nissan SD33 Frankenstein conversion!
Kind Regards
Lionel
Good job on the detective work there Lionel.
Cheers, Mick.

Must be a fairly old conversion then, as I have known of Marks 4x4 adapters for I reckon at least 23 years.
Dave.
I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
1983 RR gone (wish I kept it)
1996 TDI ES.
2003 TD5 HSE
1987 Isuzu County
The phone number is Marks 4wd Adaptors old number 03 7933388
MFC 021 is the part number for an Adaptor plate to mate a non Rover box to the Rover transfer case.
I don't know what ones.
I reckon if you persist with Marks 4wd Adaptors you will get what you want.
