    No camping

I wonder why the local council puts up signs to ban camping.

The picture of what some campers leave behind may give a clue.

A few spoil it for all.

Will be going past tomorrow with a shovel and a bag, as its on the way to my favorite surfspot

That is the action of a minority that will get the majority wild and call for more areas to get banned. Their stuffing it up for themselves and others, if these yobbos can bring the grog in then they should be able to take it away with them.

This really me off as well, the last time I was in Sundown National park, we had a lovely spot by a billabong and the sure was littered with dirty nappies and broken beer bottles.

I don't get why people who would seek out beautiful unspoilt campsites would then go and leave them like that. I just don't get that mentality. It doesn't take much to put it in a bag and take it out with you.

That picture is actually a "midden". People have been doing that for thousands of years, it's only the content that varies. If we leave it undisturbed for a few hundred years it will become a valuable archeaological site....

    mid·den *(mdn)
    n.
    1. A dunghill or refuse heap.
    2. Archaeology A mound or deposit containing shells, animal bones, and other refuse that indicates the site of a human settlement. Also called kitchen midden.
[Middle English midding, of Scandinavian origin.]

Not sure from the photo, were they camping or just sitting about at night then wandered off once the fun was over?

Yes it makes me wild as well.

We recently stopped in at a nice little picnic area in Tassie overlooking a small lake. Nice grassed area, established (and free) barby's for anyone to use and a few picnic tables.

What do we find left on the seat of one of the picnic tables - dirty disposable nappy.

These feral pigs don't deserve to be let out of the sty that they live in.
    Cheers .........

I'm not convinced that the pigs are the minority. Everywhere we go we find similar, or worse.

I'm afraid we that consider ourselves as responsible campers (and 4Wder's) are in the minority.
After speaking with Park workers and Rangers and my observations (not just in camping areas, but access trails also) there seems to more and more yobbo's out there, one instance was about the increasing amount of unburied turds and toilet paper. A Park worker pointed out that they regularly find piles of turds on the floors of the drop toilets that they maintain, with that sort of mentality out there it won't be long before Parks are closed, got me worried, Regards Frank.
