I thought it might be, but it's been leaked to Newscorpse by the LNP, so it's gonna happen.
Just a thought, could this pensions at 70 talk be a red herring, to take our attention away from something else? Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

According to Tuesday's SMH Newspaper Barry is going to get a $160,000-- per Annum pension for the rest of his life [if he does not take it in a lump sum]
And he will not have to wait till he is 70 to get it. He gets it as soon as he retires from Parliament. And He still keeps this pension even if he works earning a high income.
Unfortunately that it is correct, they have voted themselves that conditions and people are happy about it other way we should see massive protests in all the States.
The majority of the electorate are prepared to accept it, further more many said that if the politicians do not have the salaries and conditions we will have incapable people running the country.![]()
It's all good chaps. Surely as part of 'everyone sharing the burden' we can stop paying a certain category of worker a pension of 70% of their annual wage that is not means tested and starts at age 55.
Otherwise everyone isn't sharing the burden, right?

As I said above there is a difference between a superannuation payout which is generally not accessible until 55 or later (there are exceptions) and the old age pension which is currently not accessible until 65.
Thems are not comparing apples and apples - more like apples with oranges.

Sorry mate, but I'm referring to the pension paid out of the parlimentary superannuation scheme that can be accessed at age 55 and is paid by a formula, not related to the performance of the fund. It's not a 'super payout' like you and I might get. So it is perfectly analagous to the old age pension IMO. The difference is theirs is not means tested. And it can be up to 70% of their ending annual salary (IIRC).
