Most cargo barriers are only thin wall tube, maybe you could get a customs barrier/restraint made.
Any reason why anyone couldn't get a rated Milford cargo barrier passed as a child restraint point in a 110?
I've just been quoted $1000 to have a child restraint bar fitted. It seems nothing more than a rated bar that bolts in on either just behind the rear seats. Surely a correctly fitted and rated cargo barrier could fulfill this purpose easily and possibly better?
Any engineers?

I assume you are talking more the cargo barrier anchor points? Not sure if they would be rated high enough as they are basically just a plate with a captive nut. I dont think these are rated to withstand the pull force a child restraint would apply. Cargo barriers are designed to take impact force on the barrier only. 60kgs from memory.
Attaching to the cargo barrier frame itself would not be suitable.
Maybe worth a call to Milford in Adelaide to discuss with one of their engineers to see what can be done and what cannot. May give them some thought for further products.

I had a roll cage and cargo barrier with restrain points engineered by a guy in Newcastle. If you have time ring him and see what he thinks. He was great to deal with I dont have the number but it's Mullens Engineering in Cardiff. He may have other ideas or help you make those points on the barrier legal.
Thanks all. I'll give Mullens Engineering a call
