Nope. Don't be speaking on my behalf like this. I'm very happy with the 2.2 in my 2012 D90. It goes great, has surprisingly strong bottom end power and pulls a decent trailer no worries at all. I have no need for a bigger engine.

I am pretty happy with the 2.2lt. I do have a signed offer to purchase(the docs you use to buy a Car in wa) on a v6 defender. it was when the first word of the new d3 coming and the dealer thought the fender was getting a v6 as well for about an hour. I just happened to be there for that hour and order one sight unseen.

ok, so that pretty much just backs up my theroy on dealers. Again, from my experience, they are pretty useless with correct information. There was NEVER any talk of a V6 Defender when the D3 was coming out. Yes we may all have been dreaming/drooling for one, but Sollihul had no intentions what so ever.

Here is some food for thought: When companies such as LR do test mules, do they usually send them out to local dealers, or do they send them out with a team and its all said and done before we even know about it?

SO, does that mean its a LRA only thing? Id say that even a lesser chance. Now if they are to go to the dealer/s for feedback, you would think there be a lot more publicity to gain feedback. Id say they would get a lot of test drives with some very keen buyers lining up if we were to be informed….

I have always thought that the 3.2 Ford/Mazda 5 cylinder engine would have been a good engine for the Defender I wonder what the cost of the 4 is against the 5 cylinder . Even if It was $ 1,000.oo I would pay the extra . When I think back Land Rover have never had a great Diesel engine ,who, can remember the 2 1/4 , the 3.9 was Jap 200tdi ,300tdi ,ok but not great , then td5 a lot better, but still not quite enough power , then 2.4 , now 2.2 for some reason they Land Rover like to sit at 90 kw . I know that suits some people , but compare It to all other manufactures and It is way behind them , these are things that are important to buyers .. cheers jimr1

Did you mean 10k extra? Because I'd say that if they do offer a larger engine it would be between 5-10k more $$$

No reason they couldnt put the 5cyl duratorque in a deefer,as i think it is a more evolved td5,but i've been wrong before. However, as landrover seems to have lost interest in defender,it's more likely i'll win lotto
